Within Texas, a final inspection is required within one year of completion of construction of a new building or altered space to ensure the requirements of the Texas Accessibility Standards have been met.

The owner of the building or facility must request an inspection not later than 30 days after completion of construction. Completion of Construction is defined in the TDLR Administrative Rules as: “That phase of a construction project which results in occupancy or the issuance of a certificate of occupancy.” The owner-of-record, or his or her designated agent, must accompany our inspector. If the owner designates anyone other than himself or herself for this responsibility, such designation must be in writing.

In all other states the inspection is not required but is recommended as a protection mechanism for the design team and owner. Inspection fee is based on the estimated construction cost.

If Accessology did not perform the plan review but you would like us to perform the inspection, we need the following information to proceed. Once payment and the inspection file are received, we will call to schedule the actual day and time of inspection.

• The TDLR project number and RAS name to request the file
• The billing information to invoice our inspection fee
• The contact person to schedule the on site inspection
